I bought an RCA DVD recorder to copy a bunch of my old VHS tapes into DVDs. ?

Well, once I got started I couldn't do much since they are copyright. I heard of using a video stabilizer with my unit. I am not planning to do anything illegal with my copies. I want to save some space and conserve them for a longer time. Can someone help me, please?
