Should I split discipline w/ my spouse?

I am 26 and have two children, one who is 8 and the other who is 1. I am in a relationship w/ someone who is not my oldest sons father. My oldest was diganosed with ADHD last year at school . Currently he is having problems w/ completeing work and staying in his seat in cl. Thanks goodness he has two teachers w/ patience of gold that are working with him. My b/f believes that he needs to be ed because of his problems at school. I don't have a problem swatting from time to time but this is something that would happen everyday if it was up to him. My son is the sweetest, smartest, loving little boy you could ever imagine. He is saying that he has no say so when it comes to disciplining him. What should I do in this heartache decision?
