Can anyone answer some questions on Constitutional Monarchy?

Early in our counties founding, they wanted to install Washington, because of his intelligence and wisdom as a king. They decided on a "president" because too much power would reside in a king. When you combine any word with "Monarchy" the other word is castrated. A monarchy is a monarchy, totalitarian in concept but tyrannical in practice. Maybe not immediately but eventually it proves out, every time.
