How to do sleep training?

my 4month old son he is almost 5 months he wont sleep anywhere except his baby carrier...but he is getting to big for it...he is also waking up multiple times at night but he isn't hungry most of the time he just wants to suck but wont take a pacifier..i want to do sleep training but not sure how...and could i do that for naps to??
