Was this a comet or something else?

It was about 10:15 pm and all of a sudden something slightly illuminated my bedroom and i looked out to see this large very bright ball flying across the sky without a tail, it was just extremely bright. It was too fast and big to be a plane and too slow to be a shooting star so what was it? It also made a noise that is hard to describe but it was like a whoosing sound.
