If Islam commanded Muslims to kill all nonbelievers then would there b any Christian alive in the Middle East?

the Prophet Muhammad had nothing against Christianity until a Christian deeply offended him though hypocritcy. Still after that, he did not go around killing the Christians; that was institute many years after his death by Muslim extremists bent on pillaging foreign travelers and neighboring countries. It was then that they declared Jihad (holy war) on all who did not pray to Allah. Since they then had a holy blessing for their murder and thievery, they wrote it in the Koran so they would always retain that "right". The Pope did not persecute the Muslims only, but ANY other religion. This was because the pope had control over the entire Roman empire, and if the people adopted other systems of belief, then the Roman church would lose it's prestige.
